Our dedicated group of Christian Writers set out each month to decide on a topic which not only is a timely description of the month but also inspirational for the time or season at hand. As you can see we settled on August not only denoting the name of the month, but according to the dictionary August is an adjective which describes a deeper meaning.
au·gust [aw-guhst] –adjective 1.inspiring reverence or admiration; of supreme dignity or grandeur; majestic: an august performance of a religious drama. 2. Venerable; eminent: an august personage. *
I am switching gears this month and focusing on the influence of our August creator. The first lines of the book of Genesis, we learn who we are and how we got here. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” Genesis 1:1
We know in our hearts that this is so, there truly is no other logical explanation, because of what follows. “And God said, “let us make man in our own image. They will be masters of all life-- the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky and livestock, wild animals and small animals. So in the image of God they were created male and female” Genesis 1:26-27
Many debate what exactly the Bible means about “In our image” but one thing is for certain that He gave us His august qualities.
He gave us the ability to reproduce
He gave us the ability to reproduce
To be masters over the animals he created
To explore
To imagine and design
To build
To help and heal
To become masters of the land
To use our hands to create
Our eyes to reproduce
Because of our August creator who lavishly gave us the ability to represent His glorious attributes this proves our value to Him and His love for us.
Ever since the world began, man has seen his invisible qualities and majesty and did not give him credit. Instead they made up foolish ideas of what God was like and began to worship things they made instead of the glorious creator. Romans 1:18-23
Today let's give God the glory for all that He has made. For the ability to reflect His glory and design and for His love that knows no end. His august quality was revealed through Jesus Christ our Lord. Forever Praise Him!!

Interesting post for the month, Terrie, and far more illustrated than most other blogs I've seen. I enjoyed the pictures. I started using pictures in my blogs, one per, but a lot of work goes into putting them in. You must've spent some time finding just the right ones.
At any rate, thank you for sharing. God bless you.

Lovely post and I appreciated all the wonderful pictures to go along with it!
Thank you Tracy - I felt I needed to get a little more creative- it was fun.
Thanks Victor It was fun finding all those pictures. I don't usually use pictures with my posts, but it does give it that little something.
Terrie, this was a wonderful take on "made in His image." Very thoughtful and creative!
Thanks Carol-I think sometimes we need to be reminded that we are "made in His image" we did not evolve from some lower life form or transplanted from another universe, but lovingly designed to bring our God glory and our lives give him a great amount of pleasure when we discover, explore and use the abilities he gave us to reflect his awesome nature.
What a wonderful blog post, and certainly a very useful contribution to the chain! I enjoyed the pictures as well. It added a little "oomph" to your thoughts.
Great post, Terrie. I love the pictures and how you reflected on God's divine gifts to us. You are so right. There are many, and they are august, indeed.
Great photos to emphasize your points and point us to the awe of God and how He created us to have dominion over this world.
Thank you Jami, Cecilia and Christine for your wonderful comments and encouragement. At first I had no idea what to contribute for August, but then as I read the definition it became clearer how I should proceed. I always want to give God the glory first and foremost in all that I do. Blessings!!
Terrific post, Terrie! I enjoyed the images that accompany your writing, and the writing is well done and on point. Great job! :)
Awe-some! What great thoughts punctuated with great photos! So enjoyed it!
Amen, Terrie! Just not sure there are any greater words for what you've shared this month. Love it!
Thank you Cindee, Lynn and Traci for your wonderful comments. It was really a fun post after all.
Wow! this really opens the box and causes one to ponder. Great post.
Very, very, thought provoking and encouraging.
Thank you for stopping by Christian - I am so glad you enjoyed this post. Please feel free to stop by anytime- your comment is a blessing!!
I really like the collage. With a handful of images you manage to communicate some very deep truths. For some reason, the picture of the dolphin trainer really struck me. We’re still fulfilling that first calling he gave us in some measure, imperfect though it may be.
Great post, Terrie.
